The CNMV Vice-Chair, Montserrat Martí­nez Parera, participated yesterday in the launch event of FUNCA’s briefing “Financial products for energy transition”.

Martí­nez Parera reflected on the regulatory framework applicable in this area, and the role of the CNMV in this regard as securities supervisor. She also spoke in detail about the new sustainability reporting requirements which particularly affects investment funds, and in general, the asset management sector. In this area, she announced that “in the short term, it is likely that we will have slightly more than 130 investment funds promoting or oriented towards sustainability”. She explained the details: “The CNMV has already registered around 60 funds, which according to their management company, promote sustainability and one sustainability-oriented fund. And the trend is growing”, she added. “Another 64 are in the process of updating their prospectuses as promoters of sustainability and an additional nine as sustainable funds”.
