The Spanish National Securities Market Commission has opened its new office in Bilbao. The event, broadcast via streaming, was attended by the Chairman of the CNMV, Rodrigo Buenaventura, the Deputy General of Bizkaia, Unai Rementería, the Regional Minister of Economy and Finance of the Basque Government, Pedro Azpiazu, and the Sub-delegate of the Government, José Vicente Reyes Martín.
The new office is located on calle Heros in Bilbao and will have Conchita Cabezudo at the helm.
In his speech, the Chairman of the CNMV stressed that Bilbao is the third largest financial centre in Spain. Specifically, it has 16 listed companies, four of them on the Ibex, three of them on the Mercado Alternativo Bursátil (Alternative Stock Market) and with a combined market capitalisation value of more than 134 billion euros. In addition, Bilbao has 14 investment firms and seven collective investment scheme management companies that manage 134 investment funds, which represents 8% of the total assets of all Spanish investment funds.
