The Financial Education Day is held on the first Monday of October each year, as part of the Financial Education Plan promoted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, CNMV and the Bank of Spain, under the theme “Education for Safer Finances”.
Holding this Day aims to boost financial literacy, focussing on the importance of consumers having basic knowledge in this area so as to achieve their vital objectives. This year, the stress will be placed on education to protect citizens against financial fraud.
Multiple financial education events aimed at all kinds of group will take place throughout the country on and around 3 October.
That same day, an institutional ceremony will be held, for the first time in Barcelona, that will be attended by the Ministers of Education and Consumer Affairs, the Secretary of State for Economy and Business Support, the Governor of the Bank of Spain and the Chairman of CNMV. This event will also include the final of the financial literacy school quiz.
