The CNMV actively participated in the 27th meeting of the signatories to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, COP 27, held in Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt) from 6 to 18 November.
As part of the activities on sustainable finance, CNMV’s Chairman, Rodrigo Buenaventura, and Commissioner, Helena Viñes, participated in several events.
Buenaventura, who is also Vice-Chairman of IOSCO’s Financial Sustainability Task Force, the international organisation for securities market supervisors, and Co-Chairman of the Task Force for the Promotion of Best Practices, spoke on the importance of the measures undertaken by this institution and the work being carried out by the CNMV in this field.
- Open consultation on the development of sound and well-functioning carbon markets

- Call for action asking voluntary standard setting bodies and industry associations operating in financial markets to promote good practices among their members to counter the risk of greenwashing

- Interview at EFEVerde: The CNMV advocates for regulating voluntary carbon markets to give way to transparency.

- Participation in the SEE IOSCO panel: The Role of exchanges in creating a net zero world
The Commissioner, Helena Viñes, member of the group of the UN’s high-level experts and rapporteur of the European platform on sustainable finances, spoke during the UN’s presentation before the General Secretariat of the report with guidelines to avoid greenwashing.
