On 9 October, Madrid hosted the tenth edition of the Consumer Protection Day (CPD) organised by the three supervisory authorities (the financial markets regulator ESMA, the banking regulator EBA and the insurance and pension funds regulator EIOPA) in collaboration with the CNMV.
More than 400 people from 19 different European countries gathered at the event, held at the Prado Museum, to attend conferences by the First Vice-President and Minister for Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, as well as the chairpersons of the three authorities: José Manuel Campa, Chairman of EBA, Verena Ross, Chairwoman of ESMA and Petra Hielkema, Chairwoman of EIOPA.
The CNMV’s Chairman, Rodrigo Buenaventura, highlighted in his speech that “there is still ground to cover, at the European level, in financial education and the fight against financial fraud”. Read the full speech and watch the video of his speech.
The event, which was also streamed, consisted of different panels that focused on topics such as cross-selling, the regulation of crypto-assets in the European Union and greenwashing. Renowned experts addressed the most relevant issues, with audience interaction through questionnaires and questions and answers.
