The Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) has adhered to the Red Panhispánica de Lenguaje Claro (hispanic network for a clear language) of the Spanish Royal Academy (RAE for its abbreviation in Spanish) to reinforce its commitment to the promotion and dissemination of a clear and accessible language.
The improvement of communication by means of a simple and comprehensible language to all of society, which facilitates citizens’ right to understand, is one of the CNMV’s objectives, as established in its Business Plan for this year (2024). Thus, special attention is paid to the implementation of the principles for clear, simple and comprehensible communication to the documents concerning investors and citizens in general.
Its participation in the “Red Panhispánica de Lenguaje Claro” group will help the CNMV achieve such objective. Multilateral organisations and public and private institutions from all over the world are also participants. Its objectives include:
- Reinforce the fundamental rights of all citizens, including the right to understand, and to contribute to allowing everyone make use and benefit from these rights through language accessibility.
- Promote an open and transparent style of government, relating to the relationship between public authorities and citizens and of the exercise of public functions.
- Boost citizen participation in public life and foster equality, inclusion and social justice.
- Facilitate access to public information.
- Establish an international cooperation mechanism to carry out joint or collective actions in such scope.
María Eugenia Cadenas, from the Financial Education Department, has been appointed delegate of the project, acting as contact person and the person responsible for coordinating the Network’s activities, as well as evaluating its progress.
This week, the official presentation of the Red Panhispánica de Lenguaje Claro, was held, chaired by His Majesty the King of Spain, and with the attendance of the CNMV’s Chairman, Rodrigo Buenaventura.
A Commissioner of the CNMV, Mariano Bacigalupo, spoke at the Conference, on the panel on “Clear language, the third sector, services of general interest and universities”.
