Upon the proposal of the Spanish Minister for Economy, Trade and Business, Carlos Cuerpo, the Spanish Council of Ministers authorised the appointment of Carlos San Basilio as the CNMV’s new Chair and of Paloma Marín as the Vice-Chair. The Royal Decrees making such appointment were published on 24 December of this year in the Spanish Official State Gazette (BOE).

On 10 December, the Council of Ministers approved the proposal and, on 17 December, both candidates received the favourable opinion regarding their suitability from the Economics, Trade and Digital Transformation Commission of the Spanish Parliament.

They replace Rodrigo Buenaventura and Montserrat Martínez, whom the Government has thanked for their services.
