In order to inform about the activity of the supervisor in the field of sustainable finance and the impact of the new regulations that are being approved, the CNMV organised its first conferences on the subject on 21 and 22 October. The event was widely followed, with more than 5,500 views.

LThe conferences, opened by the Vice-Chair, Ana Martínez-Pina, were able to count upon the participation of the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Spain, Margarita Delgado, Marcel Haag, Director at the EU Commission in charge of sustainable finance matters, and Stephen Hynes, Policy Officer from ESMA’s ratings, benchmarks and securitisation department, as special guests. Several technicians and experts from the CNMV also participated and explained how the new regulations on sustainable finance will affect the different areas of the financial markets.

The first conference dealt with the latest developments in the non-financial information to be provided by listed companies, proposed amendments to the regulations affecting investment firms and management companies, and issues relating to the supervision, registration and authorisation of funds.

The second day was devoted to climate benchmarks, credit rating agencies (presentation given by ESMA), financial education, and other ongoing regulatory developments, primarily level-two regulations which implement the Financial Services Sector Sustainability Disclosure Regulation.

The Deputy Governor of the Bank of Spain, Margarita Delgado, closed the event.
