Main event

Yesterday, the CNMV’s Barcelona headquarters hosted the main event of Financial Education Day under the slogan “Learn. Plan. Decide.”.

The event was attended by the Chairman and Vice-Chair of the CNMV, Carlos San Basilio and Paloma Marín, respectively, as well as the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Spain, Soledad Núñez, the Director General of the Treasury and Financial Policy, Carla Díaz, and other representatives of participating institutions, among which, a special message from the Minister of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, Carlos Cuerpo, stood out. The General Director of Insurance and Pension Funds, José Antonio Fernández de Pinto, and the General Director of Financial Policy, Insurance and Treasury of the Government of Catalonia, Josep Maria Sànchez, also attended the event.

Spanish canoeist Saúl Craviotto, two-time Olympic champion, four-time world champion and three-time European champion, spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of financial planning throughout his career.

The “Finance for All Awards” were also presented. The award for best career went to the Association of Collective Investment Institutions and Pension Funds (INVERCO), for its strong commitment to financial education. The award for best initiative went to BANKIDU, a project founded by two young entrepreneurs aimed at introducing financial education to children as young as three.

During the event, the final of the School Financial Education Competition was also held, with this year introducing a new cadet category.

Presentation of the ONCE commemorative coupon

Among the awareness-raising activities, the agreement between the Financial Education Plan and ONCE (Spanish National Organisation of the Blind) for the creation of a commemorative coupon for Financial Education Day was especially noteworthy. The coupon features both the theme and the name of the event.

On 1 October, the coupon was officially presented at the CNMV in a ceremony attended by (names from left to right): Paloma Marín, Vice-Chair of the CNMV; Carlos San Basilio, Chairman of the CNMV; Soledad Núñez, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Spain; José Luis Pinto, Second Vice-President of Strategy, Economy, Game and Business Development at ONCE; and Paula Conthe, Secretary General of the Treasury and International Financing.

Solidarity race

Once again, on the occasion of the Financial Education Day, a solidarity race was held in Madrid, organised by the ONCE Foundation and ASNEF. On Sunday, 28 September, the 9th Charity Race for Financial Education and Inclusion took place. Thank you to the 726 participants who joined this year!
