The CNMV Vice-Chair, Montserrat Martínez Parera, participated on Tuesday, 8 March, in the ringing of the bell for gender equality, organised by BME/SIX and Global Compact in the celebration of International Women’s Day 2022.

In her speech, Montserrat Martínez Parera highlighted that “we cannot afford to let female talent go to waste, nor can we allow them to be underpaid”.
More than 120 securities markets participated in a “symbolic” international event and were coordinated to simultaneously draw attention to gender inequality.

Gloria Martínez-Picazo, Investor Ombudswoman, Cristina Sánchez, Executive Director of United Nations Global Compact Spain, and Marion Leslie, member of the BME Board of Directors and Director of SIX Financial Information, participated in the event.
The ringing of the bell was followed by two roundtable discussions: the first one addressed the issue “Listed companies in the face of gender equality goals: IBEX Gender Equality”. In the second roundtable, discussions were held on the gender perspective in investment decisions.

That day, the institutional digital identity of the CNMV, the website and the social network profiles were displayed in the #8M2022 colour. Also available on the website was information on the presence of women on boards of directors and in senior management positions of listed companies.

The work carried out by United Nations through UN Women was also consolidated.
