CNMV Commissioner, Mariano Bacigalupo, took part on 1 October in the MIBEL 20 Years Conference, held in Braga (Portugal) and organised by the Board of Regulators. 

Under the motto “MIBEL in the context of the European market design”, this initiative aimed to commemorate the signing of the Agreement between Portugal and Spain, giving rise to the Iberian Electricity Market, in 2004. The challenges currently faced by the energy markets at national, Iberian, European and worldwide levels were also tackled.

Mariano Bacigalupo intervened in the 3rd panel of the Conference, focussing on “Financing the present and future of energy”.

The viewpoints on the experience gathered from the past two decades in the market were presented at this event. There were discussions on the future challenges faced by the national, Iberian, European and worldwide energy markets, taking into account the energy transition objectives and the financial instruments necessary to attain them.
