Lecture given by Juan Manuel Santos Suárez

The Superintendency of the Securities Market (SMV) of the Republic of Panama has celebrated its 20th anniversary by holding a conference marking the enactment of Decree-Law 1 July 1999 by means of which it was created.

Juan Manuel Santos Suárez, commissioner of the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), was invited to this commemorative ceremony in which he gave the lecture “New Challenges facing Securities Markets: Perspective of the Spanish Regulator”. In his address, the commissioner stressed the importance of cooperation between authorities. In this regard, he highlighted the work done by the Ibero-American Securities Market Institute (IIMV) in the year in which it also celebrates its twentieth anniversary.

The day before, a technical workshop was also held on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the SMV of Panama and the IIMV.
