The 6th edition of the 2022 Antonio Moreno Espejo journalism award ceremony took place yesterday, with the award being handed over to Carles Tamayo for his video entitled  “8 HOURS with 7000 CRYPTO BROS” and published on the @TamayoStuff YouTube channel.

The event was attended by the CNMV Chairman, Rodrigo Buenaventura, the Vice-Chair, Montserrat Martínez Parera, the Chairwoman of the Jury and CNMV Commissioner, Mariano Bacigalupo, members of Antonio Moreno’s family, and the winner of the award. Other members of the Jury also participated: Gloria Hernández, founding member of finReg360, Soledad Núñez, Commissioner of the Bank of Spain and Antonio Romero, Corporate Director of Association Services at CECA;

The ceremony took place in person and was streamed online.

The jury based its decision on the quality of the work within the genre of investigative journalism, the relevance of the subject matter in dealing with the risks of unregulated products and offers based on a specific case, as well as addressing a young audience with clear and direct language.

The award is given in memory of Antonio Moreno Espejo, the former director of the Institution Authorisation and Registration Department of the CNMV for 15 years, and a person of great values and professionalism, who carried out his work with a high sense of ethics.

The initiative was created to highlight journalistic pieces that have stood out for their promotion of integrity and transparency in the securities market, as well as the protection of investors’ interests, these being values that guide CNMV’s actions and which it must promote.
