The CNMV actively participated in the 28th meeting of the signatories to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, COP 28, held in Expo City, Dubai, from 30 November to 12 December. The conference has brought together world leaders, climate change experts and other key stakeholders to discuss and establish measures to tackle climate change.

The CNMV is playing a leading role in international regulation in the area of sustainable finance to ensure energy transition faced by every country is a success. Financing of this process will require substantial investments in which the financial markets will also have to participate.

In this regard, the CNMV collaborated with IOSCO to host a specific event on Sunday, 3 December in the Spanish Hall, titled “How to improve the integrity of VCMs: IOSCO Good Practices”.

Rodrigo Buenaventura, Chair of the CNMV and IOSCO’s Task Force on Sustainable Finance (STF), gave the opening speech. The opening speech was followed by a panel moderated by the Co-Chairs of the Task Force on carbon markets, Verena Ross (ESMA Chair) and Rostin Behnam (Chair of CFTC in USA).
