On 8 March past, the CNMV joined the celebration of International Women’s Day through two initiatives.
The CNMV’s Vice-Chairwoman,The CNMV’s Vice-Chairwoman, Ana María Martínez Pina, rang the bell for gender equality at the Madrid Stock Exchange with the president of BME, Antonio Zoido , and interim executive director of the Spanish Global Compact Network, Cristina Sanchez. The event was part of the “Ring the bell for gender equality” initiative promoted by the Spanish Global Compact Network and Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) and was carried out simultaneously in more than 80 stock exchanges around the world. During the event, the Vice-Chairwoman stressed that: “Companies, markets and our economy cannot afford to discard the talent of half the population. Equality is a matter that concerns everyone: both men and women alike. It is a fundamental right and a safe bet for the sustainable development of our economy and our society”.
The CNMV’s institutional website turned violet, known worldwide as the colour of equality, as a reminder of the objective set out in the Code of Good Governance to reach 30% of female board members in 2020.
